Visual Pun

This week, we did a piece called visual pun. We had to choose a one or two-word pun that could be illustrated in any medium. I chose "pancake", or the way I portrayed it "pan-cake". I used colored pencil and graphite pencil for this piece. I probably would have changed one thing. I would have done the pan a little differently, maybe a different shape and more value.

For this assignment, I would give myself a 4. It shows a variation of different elements, such as color, contrast, value, shape, and form. It shows originality in both the idea and the way the idea is expressed. The cake has a lot of value and bright colors, but the pan could have been shaded a little better and maybe even done a little smaller so that there would be more focus on the cake than the pan. Overall, the work is good.
